Several have asked for more progress reports on STC approval. Here's one:

Noise Tests

As an STC applicant, we are entitled to substantiate noise levels by "no acoustical change" if the converted airplane is no louder than a stock airplane. This is one of those times it is really convenient to own two 114's. Today, we flew a dress rehearsal of this test. 5LP is somewhat louder on a absolute basis, and more pure of tone (think turbo charged 185 or 206), but passes over the measuring station 50% higher (8200 feet from the start of T.O. roll). BTW, this is not cheating! The fact that she is up and away faster is easier on the airport neighbors and allows her to be louder. Today's run went well. We plan to stage the real test for the FAA at Pease sometime this month. Our results are attached.
