Since I'm there... (I've said that a lot since I started this project) the brown firewall insulation is a mess. The plastic film has been duct taped to seal the brown stuff in, but I'm sure it's not soundproofing or protecting anything. The lower portion has been replaced with some type of foam pad and is fine.
How important is this top insulation? I don't want to start disassembling the Century III stuff, encoder box, avionics fan, antenna splitter, & noise filters mounted to the firewall to put something new in.
What if I remove the duct tape, mylar cover & vacuum the brown debris?
That would just leave the new foam which starts about the rudder pedal bar?
